Roles and Responsibilities:

NATURE AND SCOPE OF THE POSITION:

The technical writer reports to the Actuation Department Engineering Manager.

Providing technical documentation are essential adjuncts to the sale of hardware, spares, and test equipment tof customers. The technical writer must possess an in-depth knowledge of aerospace development cycle.

The technical writer is under minimal direction with latitude for unreviewed decision making.

This position requires frequent contact with personnel both inside the company, maintaining a close working relationship with Engineering, Quality Assurance, Reliability, Production, Equipment Design, Sales, Contract Administration, and Program Management. Accordingly, interpersonal disciplines, tact, prudence, aggressiveness, and persuasiveness are necessary attributes. Additionally, the technical writer may be required to interface directly with customer personnel, both domestic and international.

The technical writer must possess technical competence and the ability to comprehend engineering details. The writer must have the ability to communicate on an engineering level to obtain and transmit necessary information. The technical writer plans, researches, organizes, and prepares technical documentation, and exercises judgment in the application of engineering documents and data when available. The technical writer must be creative in blending various kinds of available data such as information obtained from personal interviews, observations, illustrated data, and others into a document that successfully communicates the required technical information to the user.

The written presentation of ideas (sentence structure, choice of words, etc.) is the responsibility of the technical writer. Although the format of technical documentation may be mandated by a variety of military, customer, or specifications, interpretation and implementation of such requirements is the responsibility of the technical writer. Ingenuity and creativity are required and are the result of the individual's education, training, experience, and natural abilities.

A mechanical aptitude is necessary with additional technical know-how in electronics highly desirable. A thorough understanding of English grammar and sentence structure and the ability to communicate effectively (both written and oral) is mandatory. The technical writer must possess ability to interpret mechanical drawings and schematic diagrams.

This position requires the equivalent of a two-year technical college degree and a minimum of three years experience in a technical field or a four year college degree in a non-technical field. Further, the position requires a minimum of three years experience as a technical writer or equivalent writing experience of a non-technical nature.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Plan, develop, organize, write, and edit technical documents.

Research, develop, and document technical content as requested.

Achieve consistent high quality, efficient and timely completion of technical documents prepared or procured by company through the use of highly developed technical communication skills and product knowledge.

Formulate timely response to direct customer requests.And establish priorities for such requests to minimize impact on company and the customer.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS:

A two-year technical college degree and a minimum of three years experience in a technical field or a four year college degree in a non-technical field.

Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills

Proficiency in MS Office

Strong attention to detail

Able to write in explanatory and procedural styles for multiple audiences

Skilled at prioritization and multi-tasking

The technical writer must possess the ability to interpret mechanical drawings and schematic diagrams.

Individual must have a proven track record of working well across various departments and a demonstrated team player

Preferred Attributes:



Technical knowledge of hydraulic or mechanical actuation products or electronics (or related technologies), both top level and subassemblies.

Proven experience coordinating and interfacing with teams on complex projects or issues

Previous experience as a technical writer or equivalent writing experience of a non-technical nature

Prior experience with JIRA, DOORS, TeamCenter, and Subversion preferred.

Pay Range:

The pay range for this position is $30.00-35.00 per hour; however, the pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This pay information is being provided pursuant to applicable law and is based in part on market location.

Must have a valid driver s license and current state required minimum vehicle insurance coverage to drive onto Client and Company property.
