Seeking an experienced and motivated individual for our Planner role based out of our northwest Houston, TX facility. This individual would be responsible for planning, scheduling, and releasing purchased parts & assemblies.
Roles and Responsibilities
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain effective and proper relations with suppliers or their representatives.
- Place orders and determine requirements from engineering and production schedules.
- Monitor the movement of materials through the production cycle and maintain inventory at planned levels.
- Expedite the filing of orders by supplies to meet production.
- Administer basic procurement functions such as maintaining more than one source of supply, verifying that planned purchase orders link to demand, suggesting changes or adjustments in quantities to take advantage of price breaks and trends.
- Release new requisitions as necessary for quotations and procurement to support required delivery of component parts or services.
- Participate in initiatives that will reduce the length of the supply chain, improve fill rates, and optimize inventory.
- Review and release work orders per the system demand, manage the system recommended messages, as well as maintain work order dates that adhere to the metrics for the organization.
- Regularly update work order due dates based on fluctuations in in-house capacity and the delivery schedules from vendors.
- Regularly update safety stock levels, order minimums and order multiples in the system.
- Keep the Planning manager aware about changes in the delays at work centers/machines and/or routers that would affect the lead time of the part so that the system can be kept up to date.
- Comply with all NOV Company and HSE policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

SCHEDULE: FLEXIBLE ON START TIME AS LONG AS IT IS NO LATER THAN 8: 30 AM; TYPICAL WORK SCHEDULE IS 40 HOURS PER WEEK. NO REMOTE OR HYBRID SCHEDULE AVAILABLE.
NO RELOCATION. ONLY CONSIDERING LOCAL CANDIDATES.
TEAM ENVIRONMENT: THE TEAM IS COMPRISED OF 10 INDIVIDUALS, INCLUDING MANAGEMENT. EACH PLANNER WORKS INDEPENDENTLY ON THEIR OWN PRODUCT LINES HOWEVER THEY DO LEAN ON EACH OTHER IF NEEDED. ALL CANDIDATES MUST BE A TEAM PLAYER.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: THIS IS A NON-CLIMATE CONTROLLED FACILITY. THIS POSITION IS NOT EXCLUSIVELY IN AN OFFICE ENVIRONMENT. THEY ARE ALSO EXPECTED TO GO ON THE MANUFACTURING FLOOR AND WILL BE GIVEN A VOUCHER UPON HIRE FOR THE REQUIRED PPE: STEEL-TOED SHOES/BOOTS, SAFETY GLASSES, HARD HAT, ETC.
TOP SKILLS REQUIRED:
- MUST HAVE PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE WORKING IN A MANUFACTURING ENVIRONMENT.
- IF THE CANDIDATE HAS A BACHELOR'S DEGREE, THEY MUST HAVE A MINIMUM OF 5 YEARS OF PLANNING EXPERIENCE.
- IF THE CANDIDATE DOES NOT HAVE A BACHELOR'S DEGREE, THEY MUST HAVE A MINIMUM OF 8 YEARS OF PLANNING EXPERIENCE.
- PREVIOUS ORACLE EXPERIENCE IS HIGHLY PREFERRED, NOT REQUIRED. ALL CANDIDATES MUST HAVE 3 OR MORE YEARS OF WORKING WITH AN ERP SYSTEM IN THEIR PREVIOUS ROLES SUCH AS SAP.
- MUST HAVE AN INTERMEDIATE LEVEL OF MICROSOFT EXCEL WITH THE ABILITY TO PERFORM VLOOKUPS AND PIVOT TABLES.
- MUST BE ABLE TO READ AND UNDERSTAND MANUFACTURING DRAWINGS/SCHEMATICS.
- MUST BE COMFORTABLE WORKING IN A HIGH-VOLUME, FAST-PACED WORK ENVIRONMENT.
- MUST BE ABLE TO MULTI-TASK AND TROUBLESHOOT ANY ISSUES THAT MAY ARISE.
- NOV IS LOOKING FOR CANDIDATES THAT HAVE THE EXPERIENCE AND ABILITY TO EXPEDITE THE PROCESS.

Salary Range:
The salary range for this position is $75K-85K per year, however, the salary offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This salary information is being provided pursuant to applicable law and is based in part on market location.
