Job Description


Title: Instrumentation, Control & Electrical Engineer



The Facilities Instrumentation & Electrical Engineer will report to the Base Engineering Supervisor. The Facilities I&E Engineer will support the development and consistent implementation of engineering and construction standards in the design/execution of "Base" process facility projects (e.G., Facility Debottlenecking, Artificial Lift Conversions, GHG Reduction Technology, Operation/Maintenance Upgrades). The Facilities I&E Engineer will collaborate with representatives of other departments and disciplines to help execute projects from initial concept through commissioning/start-up. The Facilities I&E Engineer will provide the needed support to all existing assets and function as an operations engineering representative on new development projects; this support will range from small to mid-size projects, corrective maintenance recommendations, and the development of preventative maintenance plans.

Responsibilities may include:

Coordinate with Project Engineers, Production Operations, Maintenance, Environmental, Regulatory, HSE, Planning & Scheduling, Surface Projects, Right of Way, Supply Chain, Drafting, and Third-party Engineering to successfully develop and execute facility infrastructure plans in a changing environment.
Providing Instrumentation and Electrical troubleshooting and optimization support to operations/maintenance.
Supporting Project Teams, Maintenance and Operations in the execution, commissioning, and start-up of facility upgrades/modifications.
Collaborate in the development of scope of work definition, preliminary and detailed design, BOM generation, cost estimating, equipment selection, procurement, and construction cost control for Base Facility Projects.
Develop technical specifications, single line diagrams, schematics, and cable schedules; work with Project Engineers to establish cause and effect charts, control narratives and P&ID's.
Provide electrical engineering support in Electrical Areas Classification, Arc Flash, Grounding, and Power Distribution Management.
Coordinate with I&E Designers (In-house & 3rd Party) in the creation of wiring diagrams, grounding plans, Electrical Area Classification, control cabinet layouts, and I&E installation details.
Abide by and support the Management of Change (MOC) Process, including participation in Pre-Start-up Safety Reviews (PSSRs) to comply with the HSE Management System.
Participate in Risk Assessment Evaluations and Process Hazard Analysis (PHA).
Monitor and report on the progress of Base Facility Projects and track/reconcile actual project costs with forecasts.
Providing creative project options to meet critical schedule constraints or cost requirements.
Lead and develop programs and standards to support the maintenance of Instrumentation and Electrical equipment in process facilities for Production Operations and Preventative Maintenance Departments within the Business Unit.
Interpretation and implementation of Corporate & Industry Instrumentation and Electrical Engineering Standards, Specifications, and Code Requirements.
Participating in the review of deviations to Corporate and/or Industry Standards.
Providing direct and impartial feedback on the compliance of Business Unit Facilities with Electrical Codes and classifications to management.
Lead efforts to ensure modifications, designs, and construction standards for I&E equipment are fully understood and effectively managed through the Management of Change (MOC) Process.
Direct the sourcing and oversight of Engineering Contractors.
Support and assist programming efforts associated with PLC, RTU, HMI, SCADA, and radio/wireless designs.
Demonstrate strong SPIRIT values and be recognized as a technical specialist for the Business Unit.

Qualifications

Basic/Required:
Bachelor s degree or higher in Instrumentation, Controls and/or Electrical Engineering (Or foreign equivalent)
5+ years experience in Instrumentation, Controls and Electrical Industry
5+ years of oil and gas experience
Experience working with various Engineering disciplines
Ability to manage multiple projects
Ability to travel to sites as needed to support field activities
Willing and able (with or without reasonable accommodation) to travel 20% on a yearly basis

Preferred:
10+ years of oil and gas experience
10+ years of experience in technical areas of Instrumentation/Automation and Electrical fields
10+ years of experience in the design/construction of Oil & Gas Production/Processing Facilities
10+ year of experience with programmable logic controllers (PLCs), RTUs, and Scada Systems
Advanced knowledge of Technical Standards (API, ASME, NFPA, NEC, ISA84, etc.)
General knowledge of OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) regulatory requirements
Knowledge of Cyber Security/Process Control Networks
Experience with directing Engineering Contractors
Advanced understanding of the Project Execution process, Concept to Start-up
Ability to specify appropriate equipment and materials as well as evaluate alternatives
Communication skills to coordinate with a team of technical professionals
Experience working with Operations and/or Maintenance Departments
Competent in written communications and presentations
Field experience in Construction related activities



Education:
Bachelor s degree or higher in Instrumentation, Controls and/or Electrical Engineering (Or foreign equivalent)



Work Schedule
: 5-40 Schedule (8Hr Days) - 5 days on / 2 days off



Pay Range:
The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $60.00 per hour; however, the pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This pay information is being provided pursuant to applicable law and is based in part on market location.
