Job Description


The Principal Project Lead Engineer will support all phases of the development process working with capture engineers to develop technical solutions and architectures, working with systems engineers to develop requirements, and leading a multi-discipline development team to model, design, develop, and test new products. The Principal Project Lead Engineer will be working in a fast-paced environment providing technical leadership to help resolve production issues or post-delivery failures. The Principal Project Lead Engineer develops project plans, maintains project schedules, and drives the team to a solution that meets requirements and cost targets.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Lead and develop proposals. This includes coordinating and assembling engineering estimates, writing Basis of Estimates (BOEs), and leading and writing proposal volumes.

Create and maintain project plans. This includes leading and coordinating project tailoring. Coordinating the development of spend plans, staffing plans, and the project schedule. Coordinates the development of the program organizational chart and assigns roles and responsibilities. Coordinates risk and opportunity management plans and meetings. Ensures required plans based of project tailoring are completed such as the Systems Engineering Management (SEMP) plan.

Conduct project reviews. Lead and conduct the project kick off as well as coordinating and leading customer and internal reviews and meetings. Effectively presents program cost, schedule and measurement data to business leadership and customers and gives recommendations for project direction.

Monitor and measure performance of the project. This includes developing and recording Key Performance Measures (KPIs), performing cost and schedule measurement, reviewing and updating spend plans and staffing profiles, coordinating the development of Estimates At Complete (EAC), and working with functional management to acquire, rotate, and reduce staff.

Lead the technical project team. Ensures all disciplines on the program execute within the established program budget and schedule. Regularly meets with Program Area Chief Engineer (PACE) to validate the technical baseline is on track and will meet cost and schedule requirements. Is a strong advocate of company, business and functional procedures and tools on all programs and enforces strict compliance to the project tailored process baseline. Has demonstrated problem solving skills, mentors and develops talent within the project team. Helps to coordinate the creation of the project backlog, write user stories, and manage releases.

Coordinate business functions for project success. This includes being the primary project interface with supporting business functions such as supply chain, logistics, finance, manufacturing, and contracts. Working with the functions to ensure tasks are appropriately assigned and accounted for. Supporting the product road map to meet business objectives and goals. Works to translate business goals and end user needs into product strategies.

Participate in Program Reviews. Support the program manager in the development and presentation of program reviews with business leadership.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

On-Site 3 days a week minimum, sometimes 5 days.



Required Skills:

Minimum eight (8) years of related experience required.

Ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Special Clearance.

Proficient in Microsoft Office, Teams, and Windows.

Proficient with Microsoft Project and scheduling practices



Desired Skills:

Broad based technical background with the ability to lead multi-disciplined technical teams.

Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to communicate with all levels of the organization.

Ability to strategize the development of complex mechanical or electronic system architectures.

Technical leadership capabilities, includes the ability to lead the resolution of tough technical challenges.

Proposal development experience

Ability to build teams with diverse skill sets, acting at the highest level of their discipline.

Ability to maintain high performance in a highly dynamic, team-based environment.

Ability to manage the development of systems for commercial and defense applications.

Ability to assimilate inputs from multiple sources and derive design and operational requirements.

Ability to work effectively in a matrix organization.

Proficiency in using CREO or other CAD programs.

Proficiency using Altium or other CCA development programs.

Proficiency in using CAMEO or other Model Based Systems Engineering tools.

Familiarity with Department of Defense (DOD) product development including new electronic systems, radars, or aircraft systems.

Familiarity with sustainment of DOD Systems including Diminishing Manufacturing Sources and Materials Status (DMSMS) (obsolescence) and reverse engineering.

Familiarity with weapon systems specifically bomb racks, launchers, and pylons.

Manufacturing engineering experience

Advanced degree in engineering or related Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline.

Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute.



Education Required:

Bachelor s degree in engineering or related Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline.

Pay Range:

The pay range for this position is $70.00-90.00 per hour; however, the pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This pay information is being provided pursuant to applicable law and is based in part on market location.



Please Note:

Must have a valid driver s license and current state required minimum vehicle insurance coverage to drive onto Client and Company property.
