Job Description


Roles and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for maintaining Operating Process Equipment in the Tank Farm Area, to include, but not limited to; chemical pumps, valves, and tanker trailers, and railcars.



  • Responsible for receiving raw materials via tanker trailer, railcar, or tote, and offloading the same into site storage tanks via gravity feed or nitrogen pressurized systems.



  • Also loads finished products onto tanker trailer, railcars, or totes, via stationary pumps and piping system thru stationary metering systems.



  • Makes necessary valve lineup and product transfers.



  • Responsible for the safe, efficient, and environmentally sound operations of all the above systems, assisting maintenance, technical and other areas within the site as needed for permitting and functional support.



  • Works with Lead Operator to coordinate all loading and unloading activity



  • Ensures all Tank Farm raw materials and final products are handled safely and responsibly. These include, but are not limited to HCN, Formaldehyde, Sulfuric acid, Sodium hydroxide, aqua ammonia, Liquid DAXAD products, etc.



  • Capability to both load and unload rail cars and tank trucks



  • Fill small quantities of totes and drums of liquid DAXAD as required



  • Understand and maintain DOT compliance while loading and unloading rail cars and tank trucks.



  • Operates and maintains various Tank Farm process equipment to ensure raw materials and finished product transfer requirements are met, and responds to Tank Farm product supply interruptions in a timely manner, communicating with Facility operations impacts from the Tank Farm area.



  • Performs routine operating rounds, collecting samples and recording data as required by operating procedures and conditions.



  • Submits timely shift reports based on shift operations information.



  • Maintain certification of mobile equipment requirements in area(s) of certification (Track mobile, Forklifts, Yard mule)



  • Takes the lead in resolving problems, and troubleshooting equipment issues.



  • Performs all duties in a safe and efficient manner.



  • Communicates any and all deviations from permit compliance, and/or safety concerns to his/her immediate supervisor, and actively participates in issue resolution with his/her supervisor.



  • Ensures Tank Farm operations are performed such that Facility operations and production meet and/or exceed quality standards.



  • Personally carries out and provides on-shift support of company policies and programs.



  • Vocally and openly supports management.



  • Support positive employee relations and communications.



  • Support overall plant objectives by accepting assignment and working with plant peers.



  • Complete 1 B-Safe per month



  • Attend monthly safety meetings



  • Attend monthly CRL meetings



  • Write and update procedures in area(s) of certification

Assist on Project work including:

  • Needed procedures



  • Assisting maintenance or contract personnel



  • Any permitting requirements

Assist with HS&E tasks:

  • Inspecting safety equipment (as certified)



  • Completing inspections (compliance and safety)

Assist maintenance:

  • Issuing permits



  • Assist with maintenance task (where qualified)



  • Directing contractor personnel (where required)

Qualifications and Education Requirements


High School Diploma or GED

Requirements:


  • Working knowledge of DOT regulations, OSHA PSM and EPA RMP standards as they relate to product storage, shipping and materials handling.



  • Certified in Tank Farm Area
