We are looking for a Piping Designer to join our Designs Drafting team at the El Segundo Refinery, CA. In this role, you will be a key player in supporting the refinery's mission to operate safely, reliably, predictably, and without incident at the lowest sustainable cost.
The successful candidate will be responsible for conceptualizing project requirements, producing detailed design drawings using AutoCAD and CADWorx software, adhering to Chevron Engineering Standards, updating refinery drawings, operating laser scanning equipment, and conducting refinery plant visits. The ideal candidate should have a minimum of five years of experience in process piping design, extensive experience in the petroleum refining industry, and strong knowledge of relevant software. The position requires excellent communication, teamwork, initiative, and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Conceptualize project requirements and produce high-quality, detailed design drawings and models using AutoCAD and CADWorx software.
Read and interpret redlined drawings produced by Design Engineering, Engineering Contract Partners, and other operations support groups.
Conduct frequent refinery plant visits for design work, field validations and laser scanning. This may require climbing ladders/stairs.
Operate laser scanning equipment, including Leica's RTC360 laser scanner, for piping and equipment design work.
Perform as-built updates to refinery drawings (P&IDs, PFDs, ISOs, etc.) in conjunction with the Management of Change (MOC) process.
Assist customers in locating drawings and information in support of refinery project goals.
Manages drawings within information management systems.
Ensure all work is performed in accordance with applicable Environmental, Health, Safety, & Building codes.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Minimum of 2 years of experience with AutoCAD, preferably in the oil and gas industry
Minimum of 2 years of experience with CadWorx software.
Ability to perform field verification of said updates within operating refinery process units.
Proven ability to effectively interface with other design disciplines to meet project objectives and deadlines.
Preferred:
Experience with laser scanning and registration.
Knowledgeable in Asset Information Data Management.
Knowledgeable in pipe stress analysis concepts and consideration criteria.
Experience with developing and updating Process Safety Information (PSI) and Non-PSI drawings.
Pay Range:
The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $48.00 per hour; however, the pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This pay information is being provided pursuant to applicable law and is based in part on market location.
