The Composite Tool Assembler will be responsible for the assembly, fabrication, and inspection of composite tools and components. The ideal candidate should have experience working with composite materials, including carbon fiber, fiberglass, and resins, and must be able to follow precise assembly instructions to create high-quality composite tools used in industries such as aerospace, automotive, and manufacturing.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Assemble composite tools and components according to engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
Work with composite materials such as carbon fiber, fiberglass, and resins, including cutting, shaping, and bonding components.
Operate hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment to assemble composite structures and tools.
Perform layup of composite materials on molds, ensuring proper alignment and adhesion.
Perform finishing work on composite tools, including sanding, trimming, and polishing as needed.
Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to troubleshoot any issues or improve assembly processes.
Maintain an organized and clean workspace, adhering to safety regulations and best practices.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent (vocational training in composite materials or a related field preferred).
Experience: 2+ years of experience in composite tool assembly, manufacturing, or fabrication.
Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and equipment used in composite manufacturing.
Knowledge of composite materials (e.G., carbon fiber, fiberglass) and their properties.
Experience with composite layup techniques, bonding, and curing processes,
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications.
Basic computer skills, proficiency in Microsoft applications
Ability to work in El Segundo
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in various positions, including standing, bending, and kneeling.
Strong manual dexterity and attention to detail for working with precise materials.
Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to resins, adhesives, and curing agents.
Soft Skills:
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot issues with composite assemblies.
Effective communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to work independently and follow detailed instructions.
Must have a valid driver s license and current state required minimum vehicle insurance coverage to drive onto Client and Company property.
Preferred Skills:
Certification in composite manufacturing, tool assembly, or a related field.
Experience in industries such as aerospace, automotive, or marine manufacturing.
Familiarity with quality control standards and practices specific to composite materials.
Composite, structures/sheet metal experience in an aerospace, military, manufacturing and/or maintenance environment
Demonstrated mechanical ability and able to work under limited supervision
Advance composite manufacturing experience to include layup, structural assembling to include honeycomb shaping, repair, bonding and fabricate of composite parts
Ability to multitask, prioritize assigned workload
Pay Range:
The pay range for this position is $22.00-$25.00 per hour; however, the pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This pay information is being provided pursuant to applicable law and is based in part on market location.
