Scope:
This Data Architect role will essentially act as a Data Architect Data Quality Services. This role is responsible for the development and management of the data platform, and delivery of data services to enable the vision of the GoA Data Strategy. This role works with other individuals within the unit, and within Service Alberta and across the organization to support the efficient and strategic management of the organization's data assets. The role focuses on analysis, agility, business outcomes, innovation, and transformation, and ensuring that data is treated as a corporate asset. This role contributes to identification, evaluation, and recommendations of opportunities to address and enhance data service delivery.

This Data Architect role will coordinate and conduct activities to support initiatives and operational requirements pertaining to data quality, engage with stakeholders, both internal and external to create a data quality model that best fits GOA needs, develop, and deliver a data quality service offering to support the needs of the organization, adopt a federated model for development of the data quality framework for effective governance.

As a member of a team of architects, each with different focus areas/domains, the role of the Data Architect in the context of defining overall IMT solutions is to primarily focus on the 'provision of data upon which the solutions will operate'. Working closely with other data architects, data administrators and designers across the department and the GoA, the Data Architect is responsible for the identification of overarching data requirements from business, and developing necessary data principles, strategies, architectures, methods, design principles, models, standards, guidelines, plans, etc. That will effectively provision data throughout the enterprise.

Activites:

Data Architect provides architectural and technical expertise, leadership, project management and services related to data management to improve the quality, security, effectiveness and value of data and information.

Responsibilities include the following but are not limited to:
Provide advice and consulting services regarding data management strategies, data architecture, and ministry data.
Consult with project stakeholders on an ongoing basis.
Assist in developing project plans, schedules, and estimates pertaining to architectural deployment and services delivery.
Assist in developing task lists and resource assignments within the context of architectural planning.
Document technical recommendations; provide technical advice and guidance to management, operations and project team members and within shared IT services.
Ensure change management processes are followed.
Make recommendations to project team members pertaining to issues, risks and client satisfaction.
Provide tracking and reporting of time and status on all work as required.

Requirements:
The proposed resource must meet or exceed one of the following:
University graduation in business, management or a related discipline and 4-yr Data Architect (DA) experience; OR 2-yr diploma in business, management or a related discipline and 6-yr DA experience; OR 1-yr certificate in business, management or a related discipline and 7-yr DA experience; OR 8-yr DA experience

6 years experience in designing, planning, implementing and supporting enterprise solution databases in an environment equivalent in size and complexity
6 years experience with enterprise business intelligence and performance management products. Specifically Cognos BI Suite, Microsoft SQL Server Services, MS Power BI (Query, View) or MicroStrategy.

Pay Range:
The pay range for this position is $70-109 per hour; however, the pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This pay information is being provided pursuant to applicable law and is based in part on market location.
