Sr. Infrastructure Designer

Responsible for the complete process of infrastructure design, including systems analysis, security, network and systems configuration. Infrastructure includes hardware, operating systems, database management systems, network and security. Also conducts end-to-end plan design. Develops long-term strategy for historical data retention and archival plan for storage needs; defines data retention, backup, and recovery. Coordinates with Development to ensure that implementations regarding network and infrastructure security across CCI are fully understood and leveragable. Develops enterprise standards to ensure compatibility and integration of multi-vendor platforms.

  • Responsible for understanding and scope of new projects, estimating resources/time as well as interacting with end users to understand their needs.
  • Gathers requirements, conducts technical analysis and writes functional and technical design specifications
  • Adheres to company documented infrastructure design standards and best practices
  • Works with vendors in analyzing, researching, evaluating and recommending computer hardware, software, and support services. Solicits bids and negotiates price and/or performance.
  • Resolves customers issues/incidents with existing solutions
  • Interfaces with cross functional Subject Matter Experts in translating business acumen and rules into infrastructure designs.
  • Design and develop infrastructure blueprints for the implementation of new solutions
  • Responsible for impact analysis and design modifications to existing systems to support new solutions
  • Develops specifications for interfaces from existing to new systems.
  • Manages progress of vendors in software development, and other projects as needed.
  • Develops technical documentation for training and operational support of new applications.
  • Provides guidance, coaching, and mentoring to other team members including design review, code review, and creation of new standards and best practices.

Typical Training / Experience:

Typically requires BS/BA in related discipline; Generally 5-8 years of experience in related field. Certification is required in some areas OR MS/MA and generally 3-5 years of experience in related field. Certification required in some areas

Knowledge:

Possesses and applies comprehensive knowledge of particular field of specialization to the completion of complex assignments. Advanced knowledge of organization's technologies and practices Primary contribution is in applying knowledge (product, industry, professional, technical) rather than managing people. Greater than 50% of time is doing individual contributor work No responsibility for developing and managing operating plans/budgets
